On June 18th 2009, the federal government introduced two new bills with the stated purpose of providing national security and law enforcement bodies with the tools to combat crime in the digital era. These bills would deputize internet service providers(ISPs) and enable authorities to obtain customer information from the ISPs without a warrant.
